TRIP NOTES / IRELAND / 2026

A week in Kerry.
One more round by the sea.

Ireland, September 2026 — golf, good company, and the moments between the rounds.

Words & photographs from Lucas Moore’s trip

From our September trip: an evening on the course, with mountains beyond the water.

We came for the golf. The stories we brought home went well beyond the scorecards.

Our September Ireland trip began in Kerry and finished with an extra round beside the Atlantic. We played all four main rounds on the itinerary, added Ross and Castlerosse, and found time for one more in Kilkee.

These are my notes from the week: the places we played, the people who welcomed us, and the photographs worth keeping.

01 / KERRY

SUNDAY 27 & MONDAY 28 SEPTEMBER

Finding our feet.
And our first fairways.

On Sunday, we fitted in nine holes at Ross Golf Course. Monday brought the first of our four scheduled rounds: Ring of Kerry.

A week ahead of us, the group together, and plenty of golf still to come.

Good company, with the lake and mountains behind us.

02 / TUESDAY 29 SEPTEMBER / BEAUFORT

Wind. Rain.
A very welcome
bowl of soup.

There was a yellow weather warning, with wind and rain, and we were the only ones on the course. The people at Beaufort came out to check on us.

When we finished, they made sure there was tomato soup and toasties waiting for us — and, of course, a Guinness.

That welcome is a big part of what I will remember about Beaufort.

03 / MIDWEEK

WEDNESDAY 30 SEPTEMBER – FRIDAY 2 OCTOBER

The round we added.
The rounds we came for.

Wednesday had been an open day. We ended up playing Castlerosse, and it was amazing — an extra round I am very glad we made time for.

On Thursday, we headed to Ceann Sibeal in Dingle. Friday brought Killeen at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club: the last of the four main rounds, but not quite the end of the golf.

04 / SATURDAY 3 OCTOBER / KILKEE

One more round
by the sea.

At the end of the planned week, we extended the trip and headed to Kilkee. We played on Saturday, and the clients had an amazing time.

After Kilkee, I drove them to Galway. They caught the train back to Dublin for the journey home.

FROM A RETURNING TRAVELER

“Both trips were terrific.”

“I have had the pleasure of going to Ireland with Golf Nomad Club twice and both trips were terrific. Because the trips are late September into October, the courses at which we played were not at all crowded. Golfing in Ireland is a dream with verdant green fairways and tricky greens. And the accommodations are spacious and comfortable. I recommend the Golf Nomad Club without reservation.”

A PERSONAL POSTSCRIPT / AFTER THE HOSTED TRIP

My own next stop: Cruit Island.

After dropping the clients in Galway, I drove to Donegal and was able to play Cruit Island. This was my own visit after the group had headed home, separate from their hosted itinerary.
